Transfer Boards bridge the gap between two surfaces at a similar height, e.g. wheelchair to chair, bed to chair. Depending on the patient’s ability, a transfer can be carried out independently or assisted by a carer. All products can be wiped clean with soapy water/alcohol/disinfectant with a non-abrasive cloth.
Etac Dolphin is a sturdy and stable transfer board uniquely designed for transfer to the toilet. The board has cut outs for positioning against the wheel of the wheelchair and non-slip pads on the underside, which allows good positioning and avoids sliding out of place. The cut out allows the user to remain on the board while on the toilet.
Intended Use
Transfer from bed to wheelchair/shower chair
Transfer in and out of a car
Transfer between wheelchair, chair, toilet, shower chair, commode

A transfer board is intended to bridge shorter gaps when performing seated transfers. The board’s low friction upper surface allows the user to transfer independently or with assistance. Transfer boards are used when transferring between bed and wheelchair / shower chair, between wheelchair / chair / toilet chair or to and from the car.

How to use

The client leans away from the direction of movement and pushes him/herself onto the glide board. The client now leans in the direction of movement. Pushing him/ herself away from the wheelchair, the client now glides slowly over to the toilet/bathing chair. Depending on how self-supportive the client is, the carer can help the client either by supporting the upper body with a belt or completing manual handling using a Sling. If the client is not wearing trousers, a piece of glide matetrial, Multiglide, Spilerglide or a towel must be used to reduce friction. A piece of toilet paper can also be used. After using the toilet, the client moves back to the wheel- chair/bed. If a slope is established, the client will glide more easily. To prevent strain on the knees in connection with the above, it may be beneficial to use a Pediturn turnplate and a Support Belt so that the client does not twist at the knee and the carer has a good grip on the client
